What’s New

My office is in Suite 118, on the ground floor of bldg 4010, near the door on the west end of the building. The waiting room and my office are spacious and pleasant, and parking is easy, but finding the building (tan colored with rust and brown trim) is harder than you'd expect. Look for a low green sign "WEST VALLEY EXECUTIVE PARK" on Moorpark; it refers to the whole complex, and it doesn't actually show my building's address. Turn in at the "Welcome" sign and head straight to the back of the office park. If you pass the "First 5" sign at 4000 Moorpark, you can still turn in there. The 4010 building is at the back of the complex. The blue marker shows the lobby, and the red marker shows the actual location of the office. Enter the waiting room for #118 at the west end of the building and have a seat. I'll come out and find you.

What’s it like to go to therapy?

As far as I’m concerned, you’re hiring me to do a job for you. For example, if you’re not happy with the way your life is going, and you want something to be different, my first job is to figure out what your situation is, learn what’s working, and what’s not working. Then we talk about what can change (and what can’t), and how to proceed. I often give homework assignments, so that my clients can get the most bang for their buck.
It depends on what you’re there for, because different situations call for different approaches. Someone who has a phobia about, say, spiders or elevators calls for a quite different way of working than does someone who’s dissatisfied with the way their kid is behaving. Usually we spend at least part of our time talking. Sometimes the client does most of the talking; sometimes I talk, too. I’m trained in a number of methods, and use what seems most likely to be both safe and effective for a given issue.
